[focused on] newborns | twin blessings

This beautiful twin newborn session is from Laurie Sachs Photography.

The Story:

This is a very special newborn session, one it seems like I waited forever for! Meet my friend Janet and her lovely family. Janet's 3 year old son Zack was premature, born at just 31 weeks gestation. He is a happy and healthy boy now but spent months in the NICU and has suffered many health effects related to his prematurity. Last year Janet became pregnant again but her little girl Corrine was born at just 23 weeks, too early to survive. Corrine lived for just 30 minutes. You can imagine the excitement and panic when Janet realized she was pregnant again, with fraternal twins! Every week we all counted down, it was a long and scary road. There were months of bedrest, weeks of hospitalization, medical procedures to try and maintain the pregnancy. We all breathed a sigh of relief when she passed the week she lost Corrine, another when she reached 28 weeks and survival rates went up, another when she passed Zack's gestation! Every week Janet's friends got a bit giddier, how far could she go? By sheer will and determination and some amazing medical care the girl made it 37 weeks, delivering FULL TERM HEALTHY TWINS. Last week when we shot the twins newborn session several times we all just stepped back to look at them and cried... and now I'm crying again. What a miracle to watch unfold. A cause that is near and dear to Janet's heart and mine is the March of Dimes, doing the hard work everyday to prevent prematurity and support the families of premature babies. If you are so inclined please consider supporting the March of Dimes, every little bit counts.

[focused on] fashion | school supply fashion

This fun and super creative back to school themed fashion session is from Michelle R Photography.

The Story:

I love having fun with photography. I love thinking of ideas that are outside the norm and I often use my own three daughters as models when I do. For months, I have had an idea in my mind to make a dress out of the hundreds of pages of scrapbook paper I have leftover from my scrapbooking days. I still plan on doing that, but as I was out shopping with my girls for school supplies, I was inspired to take a different route for a "back to school"-themed session. So... out came my glue gun, the spiral bound notebooks, crayons, pencils, rulers and more. My kids were all excited about this, saying my ideas are "crazy... but cool." What I had not anticipated was that I would have two disappointed daughters that didn't get to model my glue gun creations for me. If nobody else "got" my idea, at least the four of us really liked it. :)

I had planned on using the football stadium as the location, but the high school football team was practicing nearby and I didn't want to embarrass my daughter. She had to get dressed on site and that just would not have worked. Instead, I ended up at the grandstand of my hometown county fairgrounds in Kenton, Ohio, which turned out to be perfect. I love how the seat numbers and alphabetical rows tie in with the school theme. Plan B turned out to be better than Plan A. I love how that works!

And my oldest daughter, Kara... she proved she can rock a paper dress! :)

[focused on] seniors | boho beauty

This gorgeous set is from Sabrina Nohling Photography.

The Story:

Briana never got senior pictures done and even though she is in college now, we figured better late than never! She has such great style and is a natural in front of the camera! We wanted to go with a more rustic/ country/ indian vibe. She had this great headband with was beautiful! She also brought two great dresses and paired them with her rockin cowboy boots. This was shot in our little tiny town of Burlington, Illinois. There was a cool worn down building that we started by and then went to a corn field as the sun was going down. It was such a fun session for me and the light was beautiful!

[focused on] seniors | vintage sweet 16

This darling, vintage themed sweet 16 shoot is from Melissa Herman Photography.

The Story:

Ally is everything that is beautiful and sweet about 16. I was thrilled when her mom Stephanie wanted to do a vintage themed shoot for her 16th birthday. Right up my alley! I had so much fun shooting this delightful young lady and obviously modeling comes naturally to this aspiring actress. Big thanks to little sis Bethany for being my assistant for the day! (I will be calling you for future shoots, wink wink! ) And super big thanks to mom Stephanie for all the amazing outfits and location ideas, you rock! Last but not least thank you to Melissa Hoffman Makeup Artistry for the beautiful makeup!
