[focused on] fashion | school supply fashion

This fun and super creative back to school themed fashion session is from Michelle R Photography.

The Story:

I love having fun with photography. I love thinking of ideas that are outside the norm and I often use my own three daughters as models when I do. For months, I have had an idea in my mind to make a dress out of the hundreds of pages of scrapbook paper I have leftover from my scrapbooking days. I still plan on doing that, but as I was out shopping with my girls for school supplies, I was inspired to take a different route for a "back to school"-themed session. So... out came my glue gun, the spiral bound notebooks, crayons, pencils, rulers and more. My kids were all excited about this, saying my ideas are "crazy... but cool." What I had not anticipated was that I would have two disappointed daughters that didn't get to model my glue gun creations for me. If nobody else "got" my idea, at least the four of us really liked it. :)

I had planned on using the football stadium as the location, but the high school football team was practicing nearby and I didn't want to embarrass my daughter. She had to get dressed on site and that just would not have worked. Instead, I ended up at the grandstand of my hometown county fairgrounds in Kenton, Ohio, which turned out to be perfect. I love how the seat numbers and alphabetical rows tie in with the school theme. Plan B turned out to be better than Plan A. I love how that works!

And my oldest daughter, Kara... she proved she can rock a paper dress! :)

Other details:
Edited using my own Lightroom and Photoshop CS5 workflow, then finished with Florabella's (www.florabellacollection.com) "Ruby" action from the Luxe set at 9% opacity and textures from the Chasing Dreams (www.chasingdreams.me) "Summertime" collection.
